B Special No.1

The B Special No.1 is our homage to the racing pedigree of the Bentley Speed Six immortalised in motoring history by Woolf Barnato, Henry Birkin and the Bentley Boys.

The first car known currently as the 'Old Number One' debuted as a factory race car in May 1929 for the first ever Brooklands Double Twelve, but the bodywork was changed by the factory on the October of that year to a fishtail design and continued racing in this format until its disastrous crash in 1932 claiming the life of driver Clive Dunfee.

Whilst the car was badly damaged, the chassis was re-bodied by Woolf Barnato with a Mulliner Fixed Head Coupe body, but this body again was subsequently removed in 1957 and a replica 2 seater body to the original 1930 design was re-instated on the chassis.

The next outing in the public domain for the "Old No.1" was not on the racing circuit but in the High Court of Justice, when its provenance was the subject of the well documented law suit of 1990.

Our recreation is built on the strong foundation of the Bentley Mk6 chassis utilizing the B Series 8 cylinder engine, coachwork is a fishtail aluminium body on an ash/tubular steel framework. The interior is finished in leather with an aluminium dashboard populated with recreated period instruments.

The B Special No.1 has already proved itself as a strong contender in period rallies across the World.
