B Special Drophead Coupe

With the Rolls Royce takeover of Bentley Motors in 1931, a new breed of car was born to be known as the Silent Sports Car. Thus began a successful tradition of refined yet sporting products culminating in the R Type Continental Fastback of the early 50's

1955 saw the advent of the S Type 4 door, it was an entirely different car from its predecessor being longer and wider with a stronger chassis and four wheel hydraulic brakes but using an uprated engine and four speed automatic transmission. This concept continued on with S2 and S3 models but with the new V8 cylinder engines.

The B Special Drop Head Coupe that we now present follows in the design concept of H J Mulliner who produced a series of these cars becoming known as the adaptation models (i.e. using the standard steel bodied cars adapted to the convertible design)

The design continued until the demise of the S3 models.
